Project Overview
The West Gate Tunnel Project represents one of the most significant transport infrastructure developments in Victoria’s history. As highlighted in the Herald Sun, the long-awaited $10.2 billion toll road, officially opened in December 2025, delivers the largest upgrade to Melbourne’s western road network in nearly 50 years, transforming connectivity, reducing congestion, and supporting future growth across the region.
BKB Group Australia was proud to be involved from the early stages of this landmark project, delivering critical fire water storage and hydrant pump infrastructure to support long-term tunnel safety and operational reliability. The BKB Tanks division supplied and installed two separate single diesel hydrant pump enclosures, along with two powder-coated 148KL fire water storage tanks measuring 6.75 metres in diameter and 4.65 metres in height.
Engineered for durability, compliance, and performance, these systems were custom-designed to meet the demanding requirements of major tunnelling and civil infrastructure works. The West Gate Tunnel stands as a proud example of BKB Group’s capability to deliver high-quality, compliant tank and fire solutions for complex, large-scale infrastructure projects across Australia.
