Project Overview
BKB Fire successfully delivered a high-performance diesel-powered hydrant system for Carool Apartments, a premium residential development in Queensland. Completed ahead of schedule in November 2024, this project involved the supply and installation of a single hydrant pumpset housed in a custom-built enclosure designed to withstand the harsh conditions of Australia’s coastal environment.
Unlike standard units, the BKB-designed enclosure was constructed entirely from stainless steel, not galvanised steel, providing superior durability, corrosion resistance, and longevity. To meet local fire safety compliance, the enclosure was powder coated in standard Signal Red, ensuring high visibility and adherence to fire system standards.
This hydrant unit was engineered with diesel engine power, offering reliable operation even during mains power outages, a critical feature for residential buildings where uninterrupted fire protection is essential.
Specifically built for coastal applications, the weatherproof stainless steel enclosure ensures the system remains fully protected from salt spray, moisture, and other environmental stressors typical of Queensland’s coastline. This level of durability makes the Carool Apartments hydrant system a benchmark for future residential projects in similar environments.
BKB Fire’s in-house design and fabrication capability allows us to provide fully customised, high-quality fire protection solutions that meet both regulatory requirements and the unique environmental demands of each project. Our experienced team managed the end-to-end process, from design and fabrication to delivery and commissioning.
